Unrelated Lotus just for fun
A comment I often see on the FP goes like this:
X just needs to bring back the Y, give it the engine from the A and price it at B. It’s so simple!
Like:
GM just needs to bring back the Fiero, give it the engine from the SS and price it at $35k. So simple!
Is it just me noticing this? Do you think it’s possible to build an app where you fill in the blanks with any number of American manufacturers+models?

I think most internet commenters aren’t capable of anything above mad lib thoughts.

Isn’t that the essentially the C8 with a pipe dream price tag?

Why limit it to American makes. All FCA needed to do was take the Lancia Stratos remake body and put it on an Alfa 4c. Easy.
I guess Chrysler counts as American for this joke, though.

Yeah I guess it is. Hey I dunno man. I think they’re all pretty half baked - as if resurrecting an old nameplate could fix decades of poor decisions by GM haha

Ah I didn’t know what that was until I Googled it. Exactly that! Targetted mad libs

That 4C is ugly as hell, so far half of the ones I’ve seen have been broken down at the side of the road being loaded on a truck. I saw the new Stratos on the way home one day, I did a post of it, now that is a cool car.

Reliant needs to bring back the Robin, with a Hellcat engine, and price it at $9k.

I’ve never heard of an app for that, but I think it’d be a lot of fun to just mix and match cars with engines.
A big database of cars with their weights, and a big database of engines and their size. You can put them together and the app will see if the engine even fits, then if it’s any good. Take some problems the engine had and mix them with whatever problems the chassis or the transmission had and see if it’ll even run. And I’m sure with enough weight and power data the app could find a way to get estimated 0-60/quarter mile times.

I think Forza Horizon does that :) It already has a bunch of math for the performance of the cars, so an engine swap just means swapping the power figures over to the new car as well as the exhaust sound.

This sounds like a lot of fun. Personally, I think I’d want to intentionally do the power swap in the wrong direction
just to see who notices..

This has been a feature of car culture since car culture first became a thing. However, the length and breadth of choice to support fundamentally stupid but entertaining decisions and the capacity to entertain such choices has never been better...

Lol I thought about that but the only difference between the app idea and the game is that the app has every chassis and engine pre built to match real world specs. Though you could easily get the same results.

People have exactly recreated engines etc in the game and you can download them to use. You can save engine families so you could make a version with 20 more hp for a car.

Lol. You mean a big car with virtually no power?

Yes, absolutely. Caprice Classic was a big body on frame sedan and the Geo Metro had a 1. 0 liter 3 cylinder engine that I believe made w ell less than 100hp. I’m not even confident such a setup could move under its own power in real life.. lol

I usually just go from scratch and then pray it doesn’t come-a-knocking... which usually doesn’t go well whether I’m trying to build something practical or ridiculous.

I don’t have the game actually. Don’t have a good computer to run games.

That’s a bummer, it’s a whole lot of fun. You can build a computer that’s powerful enough in the $ 700-1000 range, rather than buy one pre- built. Would highly recommend for games like this and Beam.

Beam is the primary reason I’d want something. My current laptop has laughably low specs but I am also an poor and I don’t have to run anything more intensive than Adobe Creative Suite right now.

Ah yes! I think we got more or less the same car as the Holden Barina, I think it even had the 3-cylinder if you cheaped out.
We had a Caprice too
